Over six days, you'll strengthen your compositions, refine your visual language, and learn to trust your creative instincts. Through demonstrations, individual feedback, studio exercises, and dedicated painting time, you'll create stronger work and leave with a process you can return to long after the retreat ends. You'll also leave with something unexpected: a community of artists who speak your language.

Workshop Fee

$1,750 USD

The workshop fee includes six days of instruction, one excursion, daily catered lunches, studio transportation within San Miguel de Allende, selected shared materials including paint, demonstrations, individual and group instruction throughout the week.

Not included: accommodations, airfare, travel insurance, dinners, breakfasts, and airport transportation.

But many suggestions and details provided.

Where you'll paint and What you'll do

Our Studio

We'll paint in a spacious, light-filled studio just minutes from the heart of San Miguel. Daily transportation between your accommodations and the studio is included, so you can focus entirely on your painting while we take care of the logistics.

A Typical Day

9:00 AM — Hotel Pickup

We'll pick you up from your hotel or Airbnb and head to the studio together

9:30 AM — Coffee & Getting Started
After coffee and a chance to settle in, we'll begin with a creative prompt before moving into focused painting.

!0:00 AM Morning Studio time
Spend the morning working, developing your paintings at your own pace. I'll provide individual feedback, demonstrations when helpful, and one-on-one guidance throughout the day.

1:00 PM — Catered Lunch
Enjoy a relaxed lunch at the studio featuring delicious local cuisine, followed by time to recharge before the afternoon session.

2:30–4:30 PM — Afternoon Studio
Return to your paintings with uninterrupted studio time, continuing to refine your work with individualized guidance and support.

Some days we may go out for an exploratory walk to gather inspiration. Depending on the weather

4:30–5:00 PM — Wrap-Up
We'll end each day by reviewing progress, discussing next steps, and preparing for the following session before returning you to your hotel or Airbnb.

I attended my first five-day retreat with Andrea at Willowpond SLO in California in August 2025. One of the exercises that really resonated with me was the shape-finding exercise—it offered a unique and engaging approach to observation, and I’ve even started keeping a “shape journal” to actively look for and record shapes in my surroundings. Now I definitely struggle less when approaching space compositions because I have a wealth of shapes to choose from. I just completed a large 48 × 48 with help from my shape lexicon this past week—funny enough, this piece sold this last Saturday!
