LIVE STUDIO SERIES

Four Weeks to Strengthen Your Paintings, Your Eye, and Your Momentum

These live studio sessions are designed for painters who want to move their work forward with focus, feedback, and thoughtful guidance.

Many artists take courses or workshops and come away inspired, with a lot of ideas. The real shift happens later when you sit down in front of your own painting and begin applying those ideas. That moment is where questions appear, decisions get harder, and growth begins.

This series exists for that stage of the process.

Over four weeks we work together in a focused, supportive environment where you can bring your current paintings, ask questions, receive feedback, and deepen your understanding of what makes your painting work or not work. You'll be motivated to create and to work on momentum.

One of the tools I use in these sessions is live digital editing. Participants share their paintings and I work directly on the image using digital drawing tools so you can see possible transformations in real time. We can adjust composition, strengthen shapes, shift color relationships, simplify areas, or push movement and balance in the painting. Artists consistently tell me this is one of the most valuable parts of the workshop because it allows them to see possibilities they might never have imagined on their own.

Each session also begins with a short visual presentation of contemporary artists whose work explores powerful shape, rhythm, color, and abstraction. Seeing how other artists solve visual problems opens up new ways of thinking and reminds us that abstraction has endless interpretations and directions.

The goal of these sessions is not to follow a formula or watch demonstrations. The goal is to strengthen your eye, sharpen your decision-making, and help you develop a more personal visual language in your work.

WHAT WE WORK ON

Across four 90-minute sessions we focus on the elements that most often transform a painting:
Design and composition
Using color with intention and strength
Shape systems, rhythm, balance and movement
Working through paintings that feel stuck
Technical questions across acrylic, oil, cold wax, and mixed media
Developing a more personal visual voice
Building momentum through weekly accountability
Supportive critique and problem solving
Participants can also share work between sessions so that the learning and conversation continue during the month.
